"Help Me. I'm Poor."

Everyone in my online life has life-changing announcements to scream from their virtual mountaintops. I'm engaged!... I'm graduating!... I'm moving!... I'm pregnant!... I'm awesome! I'm over here like, "Hey, I got new underwear." With no big news to shout from my own virtual mountaintop, I send random notes to friends.

Michelle "gets" me, so I know she doesn't mind getting random e-mails like this from me (and loves it, I think):

Last night I was tired. I was tired at 8:00 p.m.
Truly, I could have crawled into bed at 8:00 p.m.,
but I knew I'd be in for a 4:00 a.m. wake-up call if I did that,
and that is not an hour of the day that I care to be friends with.

I walked toward S with my shoulders hunched forward,
a furrowed brow, and a pouty bottom lip as a way of saying
"I am so tired that I don't know what to do with myself."
He took one look at me and quoted the best scene in Bridesmaids:

"Help me. I'm poor."

He won my heart forever.

That airplane scene gets me every time.

The first GIF on this blog! (source)

Happy Monday, y'all.

I didn't realize it until reading this post, but being Facebook free for almost six months now, I have almost completely eliminated that feeling of comparison and "why isn't it happening to me?" that you just explained. OMG, it's super freeing. I'm still critical of myself (and always will be), but at least now I'm focusing primarily on beating myself up over things that I have control of because they are MY life, not someone else's. And, being single is WAAAAY less depressing without FB since I'm not constantly looking at everyone else's happy couple pictures, engagement announcements, wedding photos, baby pics, etc. Facebook-free for the win!

P.S. Can we still be friends if I admit that I haven't watched Bridesmaids? It's on my to-do list...when I can find it on DVD to rent borrow from the library when I remember.

If it makes you feel any better, I am falling asleep at 8:00 some nights. Haha! But you know what, who care if you have no news right now? You moved across the country (what seemed like) just a few months ago. I think it's totally ok to be excited about new underwear :)
