A Rainy Weekend Well Spent

And just like that, it's a new month!  This whole "it's a new month" business has got to slow down.  Oh, wait.  It's summertime in Houston, Texas.  Never mind.  Let's get through July and August at this rate, and then we'll slow down in the fall.

What a weekend.  It wasn't packed.  On the contrary.  We celebrated Friday's end with a quiet dinner at our favorite neighborhood restaurant.  It's our best dining option in this small town, but I have to admit that the service can be questionable.  We've always had good luck with the male wait staff, but the young girls have proven to be far less experienced in the department of customer service.  Friday night's waitress was crass and uncomfortably forward (teenagers shouldn't be calling adult customers "babe" and "sweetie" through chewing bar nuts and touching their arms), but I'll blame it on the fact that she's probably ten years younger than me and has a lot of learn.  All awkward dining experiences aside, it was good food.  I also found my camera hiding in a bag in my closet, so I can officially take decent pictures again since my Droid camera doesn't do the trick for anything other than Instagram.  I also spent far too much time picking an outfit for family photos.  In the end, I laid out seven outfits and asked Mr. TBS to pick one!

Meg Sloan came over to take a photos on Saturday morning.  She's currently building her portfolio to get her business started, and she was offering a really good deal.  A handful of Houston bloggers jumped on that deal train, including me!  I'm looking forward to seeing the shots she got, and luckily the rain held off until later in the morning.  That afternoon, I met up with Meg and Whitney, and it was really nice to just hang out with some girls.  I mean, really!  It's especially fun to watch blogger friendships unfold in real life, because we can pick up right where we left off... which means the last blog post we read and possibly meeting in person for the first time, as was the case for Meg and Whitney!  The rained poured down outside, but we kept that Starbucks very much alive, like three energy forces colliding.  So fun just to chat with them for awhile.

Yesterday was perfect.  I rose fairly early to the nuzzling of Boone and not an alarm clock.  I Skyped with my friend in Germany.  We took a nap in the living room.  Although it was hard to muster the will power, I did work out too!

How was your weekend?

Cheers to the holiday week, my new July sponsors (check 'em!), and a new month!  It's a bit easier to go to work this morning knowing that Wednesday is a holiday!  I could get used to this.

Glad you found your camera! I'd be lost without mine. Iphone quality doesn't quite cut it. Glad you had a good weekend! Wish we got rain sooner, 105 is not cool!

I want to see the family pics!! How fun! We've never had any done, at least not planned/posed. Suppose after 11 years together and 7 married we should get around to that, maybe :) Sounds like a great relaxing weekend- I love those! Who needs an alarm clock when you have a cat, anyway ;)

Your weekend sounds great! I know what you mean about great food but questionable service. There is a place near us that we love to eat at but it never fails we put up with the crappy service.

I love that you Texas bloggers all get together from time to time! It's nice to have real life friends who "get" blogging & why you do it. :)

Sounds like a nice slower paced weekend! Mine was spent doing NOTHING- it's too hot to do anything these days :)

Hahaha I make Adam narrow down my outfit ALL THE TIME. I'm just so indecisive (or I just have too many outfits to choose from...I like the former ;))

Really need to get my butt to Texas. REALLY.

Glad that you had a low key, enjoyable weekend, babe (I had to do it). :)

LOVE YOU!
