Me and my cousin Sara (circa 1989?)

Happy Fourth of July!

That picture is the perfect representation of how I spent every Fourth of July growing up.  My dad's side of the family would gather at my grandparents' house for a BBQ feast and pool party.  All of us would be in and out of the water until sunset, gradually turning darker shades of tan -- like I needed the help!  Cannon ball contests, fun noodles, water guns, playing "mermaid" (which really just meant swimming around), underwater hand stands, burgers, and family.

Although my family is 1,500 miles away, I'll be celebrating with a relaxing day at home, with air conditioning!  I'm a total party animal.

Enjoy your day celebrating!  Be thankful for what you have today.  Party hard, but party safely, my friends!

Aww mermaids! haha so cute. We always had some dramatic story going on in the pool- usually involving mermaids, sharks, and witches. I wish I could borrow my childhood imagination for a few hours- I think it would be amazing.

I'm actually getting out of the house tomorrow- kind of excited about it :) Maybe find a pool you can stick your feet in?! Happy 4th my dear! xo

Found your blog through the H-Town blog and FB (I think you said you lived around Spring too, if I remember correctly?)

I will be spending my 4th of July the same way you are, relaxing in the AC at home, how exciting! Although, I may head over to the Woodlands to watch the fire works... Daredevil, I know! :)

Hope you don't mind that I follow you :)

You have such an awesome attitude today! I'm trying to not be a Debbie Downer about not being with my family today, but it's hard! :( Hope you two have a nice, relaxing day!!
