Come On, Five O'clock!

It's that glorious time of the week!  Friday!  And it's the first of June!  Check out those beautiful new sponsors on the sidebar.  There are a few familiar faces and a lot of new ones!

It was a little tough to head in to the office this week, because I had one week of catch-up to do.  That's the tricky thing about vacations.  They're so enjoyable, but the rest of the world doesn't pause.  (I know.  What's that about, right?)  Luckily, it was a short work week, and now the weekend is just hours away.

Come on, five o'clock!  I want to go home and cuddle these cuties.

Five highlights from the last week:

I always wanted a swimming pool when I was a kid.  I envied my cousins who got to go swimming whenever they wanted.  I now know as an adult that pools cost a lot of money -- but not if you're renting a cute little house with a pool that the landlords maintain and pay for!  Cha-freakin'-ching.  Mr. TBS and I went swimming on Monday, and per usual, I got a tan within 20 minutes.

Another free thing I liked doing this weekend was sleeping in.  We did that all the live long weekend.  I usually hate the feeling of "missing out on my entire morning" (because you know, sleeping an extra two hours takes up the entire morning), but this weekend it was a welcomed change.

I received this wonderful e-mail from Marianne at La Mode by Marianne: "I love your blog - after reading your Flaunt Your Cause post I contacted my local CASA group here in Delaware and am sending in an application to volunteer! Thanks for being so inspiring!"  The great thing about inspiration is that it is contagious.  Her excitement about applying to be a CASA made me feel inspired all over again!  Marianne, I'm so excited for you!  There are so many children on the waiting list, and they need someone like you who is so willing to give your time and to open your heart.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

My husband made homemade apple strudel.  If you Wednesday's post, you can see the magic unfold HERE

Speaking of the German delicacy, Mr. TBS and I have been talking more seriously about taking a trip to Germany.  He loved the city when he visited a friend years ago.  I have never traveled across the Atlantic.  My friend moved to Vilseck last year which just gives me one more push to finally make the trip.  We really want to go to Rothenburg ob de Tauber and Neuschwanstein Castle.  There is so much more to do, but for the last couple of years, those are the places we always mentioned.  Have you been to Germany?  What are your recommendations?

Linking up with Lauren at From My Grey Desk!

No, not Germany! England, and in the next four months :) I have got to figure out how to rent a house with a pool... brilliant! I, too, hate the whole "wasted morning" feeling of sleeping in, but this entire week (which we've turned into a sort of staycation due to unexpected days off for Paul) I've been barely rolling out of bed before 11... and failing at that a couple of days. Hope your weekend is great, with lots of cat-shenanigans and relaxing by the pool! (Bonus points if you combine the two... on video... for the blog ((no, I'm not into animal torture merely for entertainment... lots of cats like to swim... right?!?!)))

Happy Friday friend! Super jealous about the pool being maintained for you. Our pool is currently a thorn in my side & some days I think we should just fill it in! Have a relaxing weekend with Mr. TBS!!

Yay Friday! Hope your day flew by - thanks so much for mentioning me in your post, and thank you even more for giving people the motivation to give back to their community! :) Have a wonderful weekend!

You should definitely consider a trip to Germany! I've been twice and enjoyed it both times. The second time was a trip to Munich during Oktoberfest & it was A-Mazing. I had bruises on my hands from the stein-holding ;)

I am a paralegal for my county's children and youth services agency, and while we don't have CASAs in my county, we have a very similar project and let me tell you, those volunteers are so important those children. They do amazing work and I think it's so awesome that you are involved with it! I can tell you that seeing the case from the agency's side, we are so thankful for people like you!

You are great! I'm glad you enjoyed your pool (that you don't have to maintain) and sleeping in this weekend, and that you inspired someone else to become a CASA. Seriously, you rock!!!

Hit me up if you want to know about Germany (or just European travel in general...I did it for 5 months!). I've been all over Germany a few times, including Rothenburg, which is magical.

I hope you all get to go...there is nothing like medieval castles, fine cuisine, and history..heck, there's nothing quite like Europe :)
